What makes a great coach

When people ask me what makes a good coach? Now if you think carefully about this question, being a great coach and a successful coach is a different thing.

To be a successful coach, I have my own list of 6 factors that I believe are vital and they are:

✅ Authenticity — being the real you, being genuine, true to yourself, being aligned with what you believe, having a purpose and knowing why you are doing what you do

✅ Know how to coach — and I mean REALLY KNOW how to coach, not just the basics! You are dealing with someone’s life so you have to know what you are doing. And when you know what you are doing and you believe in your coaching tools and processes, you get that confidence you need.

✅ Have the right mindset as a coach and as a business owner.

✅ Know your marketing! — you can’t create impact if you’re an awesome coach but no one knows about you.

✅ Always give value to other people wherever you are. Remember why you became a coach in the first place.

✅ Client-focused — clients results and wins always come before your own personal gains.

Now, to answer the different question: How to be a good coach? My answer is simple.

I don’t believe that having 10 or 20 certificates or graduating from a prestigious coaching school will guarantee that you will become a good coach (although it definitely is good to have) and I always tell my coaching students before they enrol in a course with me.

I believe a great coach is someone that truly trusts and believes in who their clients can become. They envision the best version of their clients and support them through coaching to get them there.

A great coach doesn’t just know all the theories, tools, and coaching frameworks. They are true believers of coaching because coaching has helped them get from where they used to be to where they are now. The coach him/herself is living proof that coaching works! To the coach, coaching is not just a job, not an occupation, but a way of living…a philosophy of life.

Now, the goal is to become a great coach and a successful one too. 👍
